Atmospheric dynamicists try to understand why the atmosphere moves in the way it does. Because of the inherently chaotic nature of the atmosphere, and because the atmosphere is strongly linked to the oceans, land-surface, biosphere, the types of interactions that occur are very complex. However, a wide range of tools, ranging from observational data to simplified models, can help atmospheric dynamicists understand (and even predict!) atmospheric motions. במחקר שלי אני מנסה להבין מדוע האוויר באטמוספירה נע ממקום למקום בדרך המסויימת בה אנו צופים. בגלל האופי הכאוטי של הדינמיקה האטמוספרית ובגלל שדינמיקה זו קשורה באופן הדוק לאוקיינוסים, לקרקע ולביוספרה תנועת האוויר הנוצרת כתוצאה מגורמים אלו הינה מסובכת ביותר. עם זאת, מגוון רחב של כלים, כולל נתוני תצפיות, מודלים פשוטים ומודלים של זרימה כללית, עומדים לרשות המדען המנסה להבין (ואפילו לחזות!) את התנועה באטמוספרה.

For Current Undergraduates
We are looking for enthusiastic undergraduates who are interested in science and math to participate in climate and atmospheric research. If you know you want to continue your studies with a Masters degree, doing research is a great way to gain experience. If you are unsure whether you want to continue with a Masters degree, doing research while an undergraduate is a great way to test the waters. Many atmospheric scientists (including me!) got their undergraduate degrees in subjects other than atmospheric science, so if you are thinking about graduate school down the line, even if your major isn't atmospheric science, I'd love to hear from you!
